Though this write up has particularly nothing to do with that big wedding, however, I am of the opinion that, Davido ought to have taken some time out, to savour the good will that came with that event, rather than, getting entangled in an unnecessary legal battle with his ex girl friend, Sophia Momodu, over the custody of their precious daughter, Imade.
All over the world, Child Custody had always been a bitter issue amongst estranged celebrity couples. Therefore, there is nothing unusual with the Davido and Sophia tussle, except that, Davido had only a couple of days back, gotten himself a delectable life partner and almost at the same time, seeking custody of the only child he had with Sophia. In my opinion, this is too sudden. I leave it there! Yeah! Imade must be very dear and precious to Davido. No debate about that. And that could have informed the reason he named her after his beautiful mother, that he lost sadly, before his teenage years. On account of this, one could easily find a reason why Davido wants Imade pretty close. Don’t initiate the debate on why the baby and not the mom? Neither Davido nor Sophia contracted me do this. By the way, they have long moved on with their respective lives. Prayers therefore is that, both find a better, healthier and happier life outside each other. However, in my opinion, Davido is a bit selfish and unkind in seeking to appropriate the only interest which holds both him and Sophia together. Afterall, he now has Chioma forever. Sophia is still alone.
Imade could just be her only consolation for now, until she finds love if… Happily, Davido has given up on the legal tussle. He may not have won though. Imade at 9, knows where she would be most happy. Afterall, she has been with her mom all these years, with a possible assistance from a nanny. Mothers have a way with their young daughters, no matter their occasional disagreements. It’s a different kettle of fish when they are matured. Most grown ladies find their fathers as allies, some way along the line. Imade may not different.
This should be Davido’s consolation. Imade would show up in Davido’s palatial home on her own some day because, somehow, Sophia would ‘misbehave’. While we wait for that to happen, I saw the grounds on which Sophia needed Imade in her custody. It takes only a lunatic to easily forget, the circumstances which resulted to the painful death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi. Carelessness is an understatement. Accept it or not, Imade could be abused in Davido’s home given the crowd around him. Besides, would Chioma given her (Imade) as much attention and care as Sophia would give? This is an open debate.
