Exposing the Lawlessness of Governor Godwin Obaseki: A Legacy of Abuse of Power, Disregard for The Rule of Law And Tyranny

In the annals of Nigerian political history, Gov. Godwin Obaseki is unfortunately, one of the Leaders that have demonstrated blatant disregard for the rule of law and separation of powers. Obaseki’s rise to power wasn’t a testament to his political acumen or record of public service but rather a result of grace. His flagrant abuse of power showed his ingratitude to Providence. This is a man who came into power without a political history, connections, or financial backing and became a governor not by merit but by favor.
Obaseki’s journey to the governorship is a striking example of how a lack of proper political grooming can lead to a leadership style characterized by callousness and tyranny. Obaseki has shown himself over the past 7 years to be a leader with absolute disregard for the rule of law and separation of powers, who lacks empathy for the people he was elected to serve through his heartless policies and the blatant heedlessness to the welfare of Edo State citizens.
In stark contrast, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has deep empathy and political maturation and has shown over the years that he has huge respect for the rule of law and a passion for service to his people.
The upcoming Edo 2024 gubernatorial election presents a critical opportunity for the people of Edo State to correct the negative and retrogressive trajectory, Obaseki has placed Edo. His anointed candidate, Asue Ighodalo is cut out of the same stock as Obaseki. He is already showing signs of a more virulent leader who thinks he knows it all. One that will be a disastrous continuation of lawlessness and disregard for the people and their needs.
The people of Edo State must reject this attempt to perpetuate Obaseki’s misguided Legacies. It is time to elect a leader who has not only been tested in the political arena but who has a proven track record of putting the people first and who will have huge respect for the rule of law. Senator Monday Okpebholo stands as the right choice—a leader with integrity, experience, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of Edo State. His leadership offers a break from the past, a chance for true progress, and a government that will serve the people rather than one that rules over them.
This September, the choice is clear. Reject the continuation of Obaseki’s lawlessness and vote for Senator Monday Okpebholo—a leader who will restore dignity, accountability, and genuine service to the office of the Chief Executive of Edo State.
