The scam called Edo Best: The sad story of a once vibrant Ebudin secondary school, in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State and the faith of many across the state

The failure of government to be held accountable whilst in power has unfortunately led to the lack of infrastructural development in our state and communities over the last eight years of an arrogant, self-serving, self-proclaimed technocrat from Lagos banking sector.

The government of the last eight years has woefully failed to not only build on the existing infrastructural development of the state but also failed to improve the educational system/overall standards. Upgrading the schools would have enhanced the quality of education, of better facilities for students and teachers who are the leaders of tomorrow.

Furthermore, it is safe to say that schools are often central to communities. Improving them can boost community morale and engagement. Better educational facilities can make the area more attractive to families and businesses, potentially leading to economic growth. Investing in education can help reduce disparities in access to quality education among different regions or demographics.

A well-educated populace can lead to better job opportunities and economic development in the future. Upgrading dilapidated buildings in schools such as Ebudin secondary school will also help address health and safety concerns for students and staff.

A government that has failed to deliver on its promises and not held accountable for its actions or inactions will lead to a cycle of continued neglect and mismanagement. Hence, we must be careful not to make the same mistakes of the past eight years. It is obvious that supporting a failed government can and has eroded public trust in the political system, making it difficult for future leaders to gain legitimacy.

A political party and government that has repeatedly failed in the last eight years in Edo State will continue to implement ineffective policies, which can exacerbate existing problems rather than solve them. Government’s track record of failure can lead to poor economic performance, resulting in higher unemployment, inflation, and decreased public services.

A failed government most certainly fosters division among citizens, leading to increased polarization and conflict within society, sadly this is evident in Edo State of today. Loss of opportunities; voting for a government that has demonstrated failure can hinder progress and limit opportunities for growth and development.

The failure of our government has led to a rise in corruption, as they have resorted to unethical practices to maintain power or control resources by embarking on countless MOU’s carried out by the law firm of a governorship candidate in the Edo State 2024 election. Supporting this failed government will discourage voter participation, as citizens may feel their votes do not lead to meaningful change.

A government that has not delivered results and has stagnated progress in critical areas like education, healthcare, and infrastructure in Edo state has no reason to name or impose a business partner on Edolites. We must vote wisely, as voting for another failed government will have long-term consequences, impacting negatively the quality of life and opportunities available to future generations of Edo state particularly in our community…
