Owan East LGA Stands Still for Akpakomiza and Decnco

The APC rally held today in Owan East LGA was a great success, as it drew a diverse crowd of supporters united for the mandate of Sen. Monday Okpebholo (Akpakomiza) and Hon. Dennis Idahosa (Denco). The atmosphere was charged with cheerfulness as key party leaders and community figures took to the stage to endorse Okpebholo’s candidacy.

Hon. Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Niger Delta, in a powerful speech emphasised the developmental strides already in motion thanks to the APC. He assured the people of Owan East that the long-awaited road infrastructure in their area had been included in the federal budget under the APC government. “If you vote for Senator Monday Okpebholo, you will see a double portion of development because he understands the pains of the ordinary people,” Momoh stated. He also revealed how former governor Adams Oshiomhole had pushed for the road to Otuor to be tarred by Obaseki, but he declined. He assured the people that the project would be completed by year’s end. He urged the people to vote en masse for Okpebholo to ensure continuous progress.

Pamela Asham, Special Adviser to Owan East Local Government, shared a warm story about Okpebholo’s kindness. She recalled how years ago, she and a friend were turned away by security during a visit to the late Chief Tony Anenih, but it was Okpebholo who intervened and ensured they were granted an audience. “Akpakomiza is a man of compassion and he merits our votes because he will bring that same compassion to the people of Edo,” she declared.

Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo State, did not mince words in his critique of the current administration under Gov. Obaseki. “Obaseki is good at deceiving the people,” Oshiomhole said, pointing to a pattern of appointing aides just before elections only to dismiss them afterwards. He reassured the crowd that the APC had no interest in violence but in delivering real results. He assured the people of maximum security during the upcoming election to ensure a fair process. “We are here for one man, one vote,” Oshiomhole proclaimed. He encouraged voters to choose Okpebholo, a leader who knows their struggles. He reminded them that Okpebholo, having grown up in challenging circumstances, understands the difficulties faced by the common man.

Oshiomhole took a dig at critics like Asue Ighodalo, who had dismissed him as merely a “tailor.” Oshiomhole proudly embraced the label, stating that it is a tailor who knows the people at the grassroots, not a board chairman. “We can’t vote for a man who doesn’t understand the people’s pain,” he warned.

In his own speech, Sen. Monday Okpebholo criticised Obaseki’s administration and accused it of crippling the state’s economy and neglecting critical sectors like education and security. “We have no schools, no roads, no water, and insecurity is rampant. Obaseki has failed us,” he charged. He promised to reverse the decline and restore prosperity to Edo State. “The last true governor Edo had was Oshiomhole, and I will continue from where he stopped,” Okpebholo vowed.

He also addressed the issue of forceful take over of land, where he accused Obaseki of selling off local lands to his foreign friends. Okpebholo pledged that under his leadership, these lands would be returned to their rightful owners. “All we ask is that you vote APC in the upcoming election, and together, we will rebuild Edo State,” he concluded.

The rally showcased the APC’s dominant popularity across the nooks and crannies of Edo State, with Sen. Monday Okpebholo leading this charge.

Vote for a leader who knows and understands the people—vote for Akpakomiza.
