Former Military Head of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar (retired) is unwell and may have suffered a stroke in a portion of his body.
Abubakar was reportedly flown out of the country three weeks ago for medical treatment.
He was flown to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for medical treatment, according to family sources, but he could now be admitted to a Specialist hospital in the United Kingdom.
According to the story, the former military Head of State was accompanied abroad by his wife, former First Lady Justice Fati Lami Abubakar.
According to reports in the UK, his in-law and Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, arrived in Dubai shortly after the APC Presidential primaries to show support for the former Nigerian leader, and was expected to be by his hospital bed in the UK for the same purpose.
The former military dictator was flown to London last week for urgent medical treatment, according to the article, with a source claiming that the Chairman of the National Peace Committee had been ailing for some time before his family opted to seek treatment outside of Nigeria.
Abubakar was unable to attend the Gubernatorial Peace Pact signed by the 11 political parties and their candidates in Ado Ekiti earlier this week due to illness.
He was represented by Bishop Mathew Kukah and other members of the National Peace Committee.
Due to his illness, which has confined him to a hospital bed in London, Abubakar was unable to celebrate his 80th birthday on June 13, 2022, as scheduled.
“He turned 80 last week, and all plans to honour him in a grand fashion by family, friends, and acquaintances were thwarted when he needed to be transported to London for medical treatment.
“His condition isn’t getting any worse, but it’s cause for concern.” At 80, he is no longer a youthful man, but we wish him good health.
