APC Condemns Obaseki’s Siege on INEC Headquarters – Edo People Must Defend Democracy Against Tyranny

The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to alert the public to the disturbing actions of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his puppet godson, Asue Ighodalo, who have launched an aggressive siege on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters. Their goal? To intimidate and pressure the institution into declaring Ighodalo as the governor-elect, despite the clear rejection of their party by the people of Edo State.
It comes as no surprise that Obaseki, who has repeatedly declared that this election is a “do or die” affair, is now attempting to bend INEC to his will. Having realized that the election was peaceful, fair, and without the substantial violence he may have counted on, Obaseki is now turning to his last weapon—intimidation. Frustrated by his party’s loss, he has decided to activate his infamous threat to “burn down Nigeria” in a desperate bid to hold onto power through his godson.
Let there be no mistake: The APC will not stand for this brazen attempt to subvert the will of the people! Edo people came out peacefully to cast their votes, and their voices must be respected. We utterly reject Obaseki’s strategy of using threats and coercion to force INEC into declaring his candidate the winner. The people of Edo have said no to their misrule and corruption, and no siege on INEC Headquarters will change that.
We call on the people of Edo to rise in defense of their democracy. Governor Obaseki’s time of tyranny is over, and he knows it. His current actions are those of a desperate man who fears the inevitable. The APC stands with the people of Edo and assures them that we will resist any form of manipulation or intimidation that attempts to undermine their vote.
We call on INEC to stand firm against these intimidation tactics. We urge them to maintain their integrity and ensure that the electoral process remains free and transparent. Edo’s future must not be compromised by the selfish ambitions of a failed administration.
Edo people, the time is now! Defend your vote, defend your state, and resist the bullying of Obaseki and his henchmen. Democracy has spoken, and no amount of threats can silence it.
