The Governing Council of the Gombe State University (GSU) Thursday directed all academic staff of the institution to resume work with immediate effect.
This was contained in an internal memo dated September 2 and signed by the Registrar of the university, Dr Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto.
He claimed that the management made the decision during its second emergency meeting, which was conducted yesterday, and he added that attendance registrations had been given to the offices of the relevant heads of departments (HODs) for lecturers who were willing and prepared to begin teaching.
All employees who failed to report for work before September 9 would be subject to the “No-Work, No-Pay” policy, according to Bafeto.
In light of this, the university administration desires to make all academic staff aware that the governing council discussed the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that is affecting Gombe State University in its second emergency meeting on September 1, 2022.
“Following thorough consideration, the council decided and ordered that all academic staff should start working again right away. For those eager and prepared to resume, attendance registers have been made available at the HOD’s offices, according to the memo.
According to the Daily Trust, the GSU administration started academic activities for level 100 students on August 22. The newly admitted students will matriculate on September 3, according to the institution.
