Vanderson
Although Barcelona added Hector Bellerin to their right-back lineup this summer, preparations are already under way to add a new player the following summer. The club is reportedly willing to make a sizable investment in the player.
Barcelona has identified Vanderson of AS Monaco as one of their goals, and according to Cat Radio, the club has received great scouting reports on the 21-year-old Brazilian from Deco.
As the club’s scout for South America, the former Barça and Chelsea player will be well-versed in the players rising through the ranks in that market.
At Brazilian club Gremio, one such player, Vanderson, first gained attention. following 60 games for the club, during which he made five goals and assisted on three others.
The teenage defender joined AS Monaco in January of this year, and since then, he’s had a productive debut, tallying two goals and three assists in 29 games for the Principality team.
Bellerin and Sergi Roberto’s contracts will expire at the end of the current campaign, therefore Barcelona will need to make an investment in a new right-back the following summer. The Catalans might use a position upgrade, even if one of them receives a contract extension.
Vanderson appears to have impressed Deco enough for him to write positive reports on the young Brazilian prospect. Deco played a significant part in Barcelona’s acquisition of Raphinha this past summer.
The Blaugrana will probably keep an eye on the 21-year-old during the rest of the season before making a decision on moving for him in the summer of 2023. Vanderson still has five years left on his deal, so Monaco won’t let him leave without a fight if Barça does make a move.
