Barcelona thrash Real Madrid 4-0 in El Clasico
Xavi-led FC Barcelona trounced Real Madrid 4-0 in the La Liga El Clasico played on Sunday at Real Madrid’s home ground, the Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid, coached by Carlo Ancelotti, was without Karim Benzema, their star man and hero against Paris Saint Germain in the second-leg of their Round of 16 Champions League match against the Parisian side.
The two teams played on Sunday wearing their away colors — Madrid, black; Barça, yellow.
Barcelona’s goals came from new signee Aubameyang, who scored two and registered one assist. The other two goals came from Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torress.
The last time both teams played, Real Madrid beat Barça 3-2 at the Camp Nou.
Following Sunday’s game, Real Madrid remain in first place in the La Liga table, while Barça move to third place, ahead of fourth-placed Athletico Madrid.
