Real Madrid extended their unbeaten start to the new La Liga season by defeating Real Betis for the first time this season.
Sergio Canales, a Betis midfielder, cancelled off Vinicius Jr’s spectacular early finish 11 minutes later.
Rodrygo nudged Madrid back ahead in the second half after Karim Benzema’s shot was cleared off the line.
Soon later, the 21-year-old nearly made it 3-1, but his header from Luka Modric’s cross hit the post.
With 15 minutes remaining, Thibaut Courtois tipped Canales’ dipping shot over the post, denying Betis a second equalizer after they had won their first three league games.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team has already won four games in a row as they strive to defend their La Liga championship, and they will open their Champions League defence against Celtic on Tuesday.
Vinicius Junior scored Real Madrid‘s first goal against Real Betis at the Bernabéu since Sergio Ramos in March 2017. He also established a career milestone by scoring in three consecutive games for the first time.

Sevilla 0-3 Barcelona
Raphinha scored his first goal for Barcelona, and Lewandowski scored his FIFTH, as Xavi’s side defeated struggling Sevilla 3-0.
