The question of taking side in this love narrative is completely out of it. God knows. In trying to be as objective as I could possibly be, chances are that, I might be perceived as tilting towards a particular direction.
For those who might be caught on this street, I won’t blame you. It would require some critical thinking to escape this road. Now, here we go!
Davido is one artist I love and would continue to love. His talents are simply out of this world. His carriage is second to non. His humility is breathtaking. Little wonder that, he is such a phenomenal success as a crooner.
Sophia Momodu has never been on my radar, not until recently. But, from the outside, she presents a picture of a humble girl. I also see a picture of a girl with focus and an iron determination to succeed in whatever she believes in. Wrong or right, this is my candid opinion from outside. Interestingly, both have a pedigree of Edo root. While Davido’s late mom is from Bini, Sophia’s late dad is of the Afemai tribe of Edo North.
Though their relationship crashed somewhere along the line, this common affinity may have played a role in their coming together in the first instance. Don’t quote on this. It’s just an option opinion. Somehow, both parties would definitely hit a common after this storm. But, I have my little worries after going through what Davido said of Sophia in his public statement, relating to Sophia’s alleged alcohol abuse and smoking of cannabis. If this is true, at what point in their relationship did Davido notice this? What was Sophia’s status with those substances before Davido met her? Was she drinking and smoking before they met? If the answer is in the affirmative, what was Davido’s attraction to an alcoholic and ‘igbo’ smoker, when there were more decent ladies in the streets of Lagos? Davido did aver in the same public statement that, at the birth of their daughter, Imade, her major health challenge was the infestation of the new baby through breast feeding, with with alcohol and cannabis.
This no doubt, is a very damaging allegation against a lady. The question again is, at what point did Sophia get into this? Did Davido know about it and what did he do to help? Was she fairly treated when she got pregnant? A young pregnant lady, faced with utter rejection by the one she loved and without the right counselling, could venture into anything, inclusive of drugs. However, if non of these happened, what was Davido, given his status, doing with substance abuser?Davido also came up with the allegation that, Sophia was a drifter when they met.
If she was indeed a drifter as claimed, there must be something about this girl that Davido couldn’t resist, what is it? However, contrary to this claim, Sophia hasn’t been idler. She is an influencer to some globally recognized products, eg, Monster Energy drinks and some other fashion related stuff.
Activities of this nature, pay bills, yes, it sure does. Sophia’s case can’t be different. With this, she can afford to live in Banana Island outside Davido help. She can as well afford a holiday with her daughter, at any destination of choice without inviting the Adelekes. However, Imade is Davido’s daughter. Davido works real hard and is blessed. Sophia has what it takes as a mother, to look after her daughter until she comes of age. At the appropriate time, Imade would ‘dump’ Sophia for Davido. Most young women raised by single mom do. Until then, Imade must be reflect the true image of a super star’s daughter that she is – glamour and glitz. Over to Davido!
