EDO 2024; SENATOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO’S COMMITTMENT TO PEACE AND SECURITY AFFIRMED BY SIGNING OF PEACE ACCORD.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (A.P.C) in Edo, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, who has continuously promised Edo people a secured and peaceful state, when elected as the next governor, has today, shown preparedness to match words with actions by signing the much anticipated peace accord.

While the P.D.P, outrightly turned it’s back against the peace pact, signed by other political parties, contesting this elections in the state, it is a pointer to the fact, that the P.D.P were prepared for this election in any other way, expect for it to have a peaceful outcome, because such desperation to disregard a peace committee which had the respected former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, is a total shame on their path, which speaks poorly of their sportsmanship spirit and doesn’t reflect the respectful character of the Edo people.

This also suggests that while the P.D.P candidate may be promising peace and security through lip service in his manifesto, his intentions have shown to be far from that, if he cannot put Edo first, before his desperate quest to become governor. This refusal of the PDP to sign the peace pact should make Edo people to be very careful of the party in this forthcoming elections after it has outrightly declined having any interest for peace to prevail.

Amidst all this, for Sen. Monday Okpebholo, this exercise has given him the opportunity to prove his stand as a core democrat, who is willing to subject himself to every process that would help to guarantee peace, stability and strengthen the democratic process in Nigeria, a litmus test he has passed in flying colours ahead of this elections.

This proves that the A.P.C candidate can be relied upon by the people of Edo State, to be a man of his words, who is devoid of any act of desperation for power, but instead remains committed towards playing his part, in the quest for peace in our state and the strengthening of democratic templates.
