Benin City,: August 29, 2024— The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo AKA Akpakomiza, alongside Senator Uroghide and other party stalwarts, met with the New Building Materials Sellers Association in Benin City, where they discussed strategies to strengthen the market’s growth and development. The event, attended by key stakeholders in the city’s commerce sector, highlighted the ongoing efforts to strengthen the local economy through targeted financial and infrastructural support.

The spokesperson for the association warmly welcomed Senator Monday Okpebholo and outlined a pressing need for financial assistance. He urged the senator to facilitate a loan facility to help less financially stable traders develop the land graciously allotted to them by the Oba of Benin.

In response, Senator Uroghide expressed his gratitude to the association’s leadership and emphasised that it is a firm commitment from Akpakomiza to support the market’s development through cooperative and pleasant regulatory measures. He assured the association that their concerns would be addressed as part of a broader strategy to uplift the economic terrain of Benin City and Edo state in general.

Sen. Okpebholo, reflected on his personal journey from an apprentice to a prominent figure in the country and identified deeply with the aspirations of the traders. He stressed the critical role of empowering local businesses, particularly the Igbo community, in reviving Edo State’s struggling economy.
“Infrastructural development is the lifeblood of a thriving economy,” Senator Okpebholo stated. “When we invest in our markets and create the right environment for businesses to flourish, we set the stage for sustained economic growth.”

He further condemned the fiscal mismanagement that has led to the state’s current financial woes, pointing to the heavy debt burden incurred under Governor Obaseki’s administration. Reaffirming his commitment to the business community, Akpakomiza promised to support the development of the land allocated by the Oba of Benin and to ensure it becomes a vibrant hub of commerce that will benefit all.

The meeting featured Sen. Okpebholo’s dedication to transform Edo commercial sector and nurture an environment where businesses can thrive, ultimately contributing to the broader economic restoration of Edo State.
