A leading innovator in consumer electronics and sustainable solutions, LG Electronics, on Thursday, donated a solar-powered borehole to the Agba-Akin community in Ibadan, Ibadan North East Local Government Area of Oyo State, to save residents from waterborne disease.
The initiative, according to the firm, is to address the critical need for a reliable source of clean water and enhance the quality of life for the community which has long faced challenges in accessing clean and safe drinking water.
The company’s Head of Corporate Marketing, Nigeria, Hari Elluru, during the unveiling, said that the firm was dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities it serves.
Elluru added that access to clean water was a basic human right and they are proud to support the Ibadan community with the solar-powered borehole.
“This project reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions that improve lives and foster development. Three years ago, we opened a free laundry centre in Ibadan to cater for the washing needs of the people. The free laundry centre is equipped with state-of-the-art, hygienic facilities, and is operated free of charge to end-users.

Elluru explained that by harnessing solar energy, this project not only provides clean water but also promotes the use of renewable energy.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Landlord Association in the community, Olaibi Ojuolape, thanked the firm for the gesture, promising maintenance and sustainability of the project.
