A Foreign Hardware company established in Taiwan, ASUS, has said it is targeting the Nigerian consumer market with personal computers and electronics.
The Country Manager, Simplice Zaongo, stated this during the maiden edition of its media chat in Lagos, Wednesday.
According to Zaongo, the company is determined to deliver high end quality gadgets to facilitate the transition to technology for Nigeria’s digital economy.
“So, when we consider the consumer laptop industry, our brand is number one in Asia Pacific, Europe and gaming which is a brand of issues as created back in 2006.
“What about Nigeria? Our brand entered Nigeria relatively late, I have to admit, when we compare ourselves with top competitors that have been in the market for a while.”
Zaongo noted that the company developed consumer-based products to suit the audience base in Nigeria.
“We have a holistic and vast product portfolio, as of today, our focus in Nigeria is on the consumer. So, we split into different categories. We target from the very high end to also entry level segments of the market.
“So we still target all the price points in the market. For a market like Nigeria, where according to the information that we have, the entry level, let’s say the CD ROM, for instance, occupied the portion of the market more than 40 per cent, around 60 per cent or 50 per cent.”
Zaongo expresses that it was very important to bring products that customers could afford, in that, the company emphasised that most of the products coming into Nigeria were not refurbished products as the company had tried to maintain quality and design on all spheres from the United Kingdom and the United States to Nigeria.
The brand also unveiled its latest technologies such as the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3402) and Zenbook 17-Fold (UX9702).
Talking further on the brand’s strategy to increase market share above its current 16 per cent despite the economic crisis, he said “So we decided to take three actions. So the first one is to create awareness. The second one is to educate customers. And the third one is to make our laptop affordable.”
The company’s Marketing Manager, Nigeria, Adeola Odeleye, disclosed that the event would subsequently be held twice a year. According to her, ASUS is driven by innovation and passionate about technology.
“We dream, dare, and strive to create an effortless and joyful digital life for everyone. We’re always in search of incredible ideas and experiences, and we aspire to deliver the incredible in everything we do,” she said.
