Gov. Godwin Obaseki Totally Embarrassed, As ‘Obidients’ Took Over Benin City.

The crowd
How dumb could a government be? Edo state government under the leadership of Gov. Godwin Obaseki on my mind! Why would the application of the Labour Party to use the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium or any other bigger venue be turned down, if it wasn’t petty partisan politics at play?
According to the governor, the notice from the organizers of the campaign rally, was short. In addition, the tartan tracks at the Ogbemudia stadium was under warranty. So what? If the warranty argument is critical, the question is, why was the same privilege granted to Atiku Abubakar to hold his rally the other week?
Peter Obi in Esan land.
Apparently, Gov. Godwin Obaseki was scared of the massive crowd that, the Labour Party would mobilize on the day. Otherwise, why would he schedule the annual Alaghodalo Development Summit on the same day?
However, as events turned out, it would have been less embarrassing for the governor to have kept Peter Obi and his Obidient Movement in an enclosure, like the Ogbemudia Stadium.
Shockingly, the denial of that facility and of course, other larger spaces, may infuriated the Labour Party supporters. The outcome was that, they had to take over the most important streets, roads and landmarks in Benin City, Uromi and Auchi simultaneously.
In Benin City for instance, the airport, Oba’s palace, Kings Square (Ring Road), Akpakpava Business district, New Benin, New Lagos road, and all the adjoining Streets around the eventual campaign venue at Baptist Convention Ground, were completely taken over by the Obidients
At the palace of the Benin Monarch.
Conservatively, no fewer than ten vehicles laddened with deejay equipment blasting sounds, were on the streets entertaining Peter Obi Supporters. Gist had it that, must of the Deejays did the jobs without charging the Labour Party a dime.

What an embarrassing day it was, for governor Obaseki! Again, It would have been better to keep that crowd in an enclosure. Even the earlier ban placed on Labour Party, on the use of Bill Boards and pasting of posters on public facilities, paled into insignificance given the large crowd that turned out for the campaign event. It is obvious, ‘Nigerians want to back their country back’
