According to Fabrizio Romano, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has agreed to take over at Chelsea.
Following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, the 47-year-old opened talks with Chelsea on Wednesday, and it has been revealed that things went well, with him being offered the chance to replace the German at Stamford Bridge.
Potter is said to have verbally agreed to take charge and shook hands on the deal, with paperwork being prepared now.
Potter was always the club’s first choice for Chelsea, and after their first meeting, Boehly and the rest of the club’s hierarchy knew they had found their man. Boehly had always wanted a quick appointment, and that is how things turned out.
According to reports, Zinedine Zidane, Diego Simeone, and Ruben Amorim were all linked to the job, but the real contender had been Mauricio Pochettino, who had been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Potter impressed Boehly and the rest of the board so much during negotiations that he was offered the job within hours of the meeting.
Brighton, who have a release clause on Potter, have started their own search for a replacement.
