The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has conducted a working visit to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos to inspect ongoing infrastructural upgrades at the E-Wing.

The Aviation Minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, disclosed this in a statement signed on Friday.

Key officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria joined the minister, including Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku, Director of Operations Abdullahi Zubeir Mahmood, Director of Engineering Engr Abiola Adejare, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Obiageli Orah, and Directors of Special Duties and Corporate Services Jensen Asaba, among others.

The upgrades are part of the Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Initiative, a key component of the minister’s third agenda in his 5-point strategic roadmap for the ministry.

The initiative, led by Kuku, aims to build stronger partnerships with the private sector to renovate and enhance facilities at all FAAN airports nationwide.

This approach reflects a commitment to improving service delivery and operational efficiency.

The statement partly read, “A notable achievement under this program is the successful renovation of the E-Wing toilet at MMIA by Max Impact Africa.

“This upgrade, which the Honourable Minister and FAAN officials inspected today, sets a high standard for future renovation projects across Nigeria’s airports.

“The E-Wing renovation is a testament to FAAN’s strategy of leveraging private sector resources, expertise, and innovation to deliver infrastructure improvements that align with international standards and enhance passenger experiences.”

During the inspection, Keyamo praised the FAAN Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Programme as a significant advancement in transforming Nigeria’s aviation sector.

He stressed the importance of ongoing private-sector partnerships to ensure that Nigerian airports remain competitive and capable of addressing the needs of the global aviation industry.

The minister also officially launched the FAAN Private Sector Collaboration and Renovation Programme during the visit, signalling the start of broader efforts to upgrade airport infrastructure across the country.

This initiative is anticipated to greatly enhance service quality at FAAN airports and strengthen Nigeria’s role in the global aviation market.
