Lagos impounds 40 trucks for illegal parking

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has impounded 40 trailers, trucks and tankers parked illegally under flyover bridges around the Costain/Iganmu area of the state.
The agency’s General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, in a statement by the spokesperson for the agency, Taofiq Adebayo, on Monday, said the 40 trucks were impounded around Ijora, Costain, Breweries and the Ajegunle Park along Ijora Mobil Road area of Iganmu, adding that the Director of Operations, LASTMA, Peter Gbedemeje, led the operation.
He also noted that the operation was carried out immediately after the expiration of the seven-day removal order served on the defaulters around the area.
The statement read in part, “The level of voluntary compliance was encouraging as majority of the defaulters had already removed their heavy duty vehicles before the commencement of the enforcement operations.
“We are very happy with the level of voluntary compliance by owner/drivers of these illegally parked trucks including other illegal workshops such as iron benders, mechanics, food/ fruits vendors.
“These 40 impounded trailers were contravened around Ijora, Costain, Breweries and Ajegunle Park by Ijora Mobil Road area of Iganmu, Lagos.
“The Head of Operations, Peter Gbedemeje stated that the cleanup exercise would be continuous and be extended to other parts of the state in order to checkmate criminal activities. Owners/drivers of the 40 impounded trailers would be charged to court.”
