Super Falcons of Nigeria star Uchenna Kanu has become the first player to score a goal against United States of America Women’s National team since April, after netting a classic goal in her team’s 2-1 defeat in a friendly match at Washington DC on Tuesday night.
Uchenna Kanu was dropped to the bench by her coach, and she was able to perform excellently after being introduced to the pitch in the second half of the game.
The former Sevilla Women’s football club star replaced Onyi Echegini in the 45th minute, and she was able to make an instant impact on the pitch, as she scored a beautiful goal for her team.
Super Falcons midfield maestro Demehin broke the deadlock for United States of America Women’s National team through an own goal in the 24th minute to end the first half 1-0.
Substitute Uchenna Kanu equalized for the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the 50th minute before former Manchester City Women’s football club star Ross Lavelle scored the winning goal for the home team in the 66th minute to end the match 2-1.
Uchenna Kanu’s second half goal against United States of America Women’s National team means, she has become the first player to score against them since April, and they have played 880 minutes without conceding a goal.
The last time United States of America Women’s National team conceded a goal was on the 9th of April when Aziza Norboyeva scored a consolation goal for Uzbekistan Women’s National team in their 9-1 defeat (to United States of America), and ever since then they’ve been able to play many matches without conceding, but their cleansheet has finally ended against Nigerian.
