According to MTN Nigeria, sales of airtime, internet, SMS, and other business-related services produced N479.10 billion in Q2 2022, an increase of 18.02 percent over the N405.94 billion in Q2 2021.
Despite the increase in revenue, MTN Nigeria had a decline in one of its main sources of income, voice (airtime), which dropped to N200.74 billion in the reviewed period and fell short of the N203.98 billion achieved in Q2 2021.
After the y’ello network generated N185.54 billion between April and June 2022, surpassing the N122.82 billion MTN users paid during the same period in the second quarter of previous year, the telecommunications business was saved by growth in the data segment.
MTN Nigeria reported that Nigerians transmitted N16.45 billion worth of text messages in the first three months of Q2 2022, increasing the segment’s revenue above the N11 billion earned from customers in Q2 2021.
At the end of the period in review, MTN Nigeria was able to close the second quarter of this year with N84.80 billion profit after tax, in contrast to the N68.08 billion profit the network provider had recorded a year before.
