‘Nobody Has Given Me Anything’, Obi Denies $150m in Diaspora Funding

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, denied on Tuesday that he had taken $150 million from outside sources.
An organization going by the name Tinubu-Shettima Connect asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Obi due to the claimed funds because they violated the Electoral Act regarding campaign finance.
But in a meeting with Nigerians in London, the former governor of the state of Anambra asserted that the allegations were all speculative. “Nobody has ever given me anything,” he said. “That is simply speculation. I don’t need what they would give me, though. What would they give Nigeria, though, since we need them to turn things around in Nigeria?
“We need this determination and capacity to rebuild Nigeria. The diaspora carried out the transformation of every nation. Even in the Bible, Joseph later left and came back to feed his people.
Obi recently visited the United States and Europe to meet with Nigerians from all around the world.
