Obaseki’s Last Desperate Gamble Falls Flat: Okpebholo And Akpata Still In the Race
In a last-ditch attempt to salvage a crumbling empire, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his PDP puppets have once again resorted to their signature tactic—deception.
Yesterday, in a laughable display of desperation, the PDP and Edo State government sank to new depths, spreading wild, fake rumors. They forged letters claiming that APC’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had been disqualified, while also trying to peddle the ridiculous notion that LP’s Olumide Akpata had withdrawn and thrown his weight behind Asue Ighodalo. Pathetic.
Let’s get one thing straight: Obaseki, Asue Ighodalo, and their PDP lackeys are staring defeat in the face, and instead of offering solutions, they’re busy crafting lies. How desperate must one be to resort to such antics? How low must the PDP fall before Edo people say, “Enough is enough”? It seems the Governor’s team has more time on their hands for propaganda than actual governance. But can we blame them? They’ve had eight long years to try and improve Edo State, and they’ve failed spectacularly at every turn.
Here’s the truth that Obaseki and Ighodalo don’t want anyone to talk about: Edo State has nothing to show. From crumbling roads to an education system in tatters, from a healthcare sector gasping for air to a complete lack of infrastructure development—the legacy of Godwin Obaseki is one of absolute failure. Yet, here they are, throwing mud, trying to paint others in their color of incompetence. The people of Edo are not fools. We know a bad product when we see one, and no amount of fake news can mask the bitter reality of PDP’s incompetence.
And let’s not forget the shining star of this comedy of errors, Asue Ighodalo. For eight years, this man has been Obaseki’s chief economic adviser. What has he done with this role? Absolutely nothing. No roads, no jobs, no progress. The man spent years advising Obaseki into economic ruin, and now they want to sell him as the candidate to lead Edo State? Is that a joke, or is it just the PDP way of admitting they have nothing to offer?
The only reason Obaseki is backing Ighodalo is simple: Asue has a lot to hide for the Governor. He’s been there, shoulder to shoulder with Obaseki, cooking up schemes to swindle Edo people. But like my people say, “You can only deceive the people for so long.” The desperation in PDP’s ranks shows that even they know the game is up. It’s all crashing down on them, and now they want to drag everyone into their pit of shame.
Shame on Obaseki. Shame on Asue Ighodalo. Shame on the PDP.
Their failure is their legacy. Their lies will not save them. Elections are local, and the people of Edo have seen through the charade. “No amount of falsehood will change the will of the people”. My people have a saying for this kind of behavior: “Shame, shame, shame. SHAME!”
The PDP may continue to play dirty, but the joke is on them. They’ve exposed themselves as a party with no vision, no leadership, and certainly no solutions.
The people of Edo have already made up their minds, and nothing Obaseki’s circus can conjure will change that. Come Election Day, the real verdict will be delivered. And it won’t be in their favor.
