The 61st Ordinary Session of the Authority of the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government is being held in Accra, Ghana, and vice president Yemi Osinbajo will be attending. He left Lagos on Saturday.
Osinbajo will represent President Muhammadu Buhari at the summit on Sunday, according to a statement made by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande.
He will participate in discussions and decisions about political, security, and humanitarian issues in the subregion with other West African leaders.
During the summit, the conditions in Mali, Guinea, and Burkina Faso will also be discussed.
Since 2020, West African leaders have met numerous times, including in emergency sessions to address constitutional violations including the forcible military seizure of some member states’ governments.
