The 16-year-old Uzairu Salisu, who was purportedly the victim of an attempted culpable homicide allegedly committed by one Ibrahim, has had his eyes cut out, according to the Bauchi State Police Command.
A boy of about 16 years old was discovered in a pool of blood with two of his eyes removed at Dutsen Jira in the Yelwa region of Bauchi metropolis, according to a statement from the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili. The call came from the Ward Head of Birshin, a suburb of the city.
The victim was transported to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi (ATBUTH) for treatment, according to the PPRO, by a team of police officers led by the DPO Yelwa who arrived at the crime scene.
According to early findings, the victim’s name is Uzairu Salisu of Kwanan Gulmammu, Jahun Quarters in the city of Bauchi.
According to the PPRO, the victim claimed that a man named Ibrahim of Rafin Zurfi, who he had known for a while, had lured him to a jungle for a menial task on his farm, where he then strangled the victim and amputated his two eyeballs with a cable wire.
He added that the person was receiving medical care at the hospital right now and promised to keep everyone informed as the inquiry progressed.
To ensure that the egregious act’s perpetrators are held accountable and that it doesn’t happen again, Police Commissioner Umar Mamman Sanda committed to investigate the cause of the incident.
In order to do this, the Commissioner of Police emphasised that parents and guardians must keep a close eye on their children’s whereabouts and company. He said that it is important now more than ever for everyone to be aware of their children’s whereabouts and company.
He then issued a challenge to community leaders, elders, and other powerful figures to watch what is happening in their surroundings and ensure that necessary action is taken before things get out of hand.
Additionally, Umar Sanda exhorted the people of the state to continue cooperating with the police, particularly by providing information, to be on guard, and to report any suspicious or unusual activity to the authorities.
