The two priests who were kidnapped by assailants from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State are once again at large.
In the church led by Bishop Matthew Hassan-Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto State, the clerics and two other people were kidnapped on May 25.
The priests, Fr. Stephen Ojapa and Fr. Oliver Okpara, were freed along with the other two victims, according to a statement made on Sunday by the diocese’s director of social communications, Rev. Fr. Christopher Omotosho.
Mr. Hassan Hassan and Ms. Ummie Hassan were described as the couple.
“With hearts full of joy, we announce that our brothers Fr. Stephen Ojapa, Fr. Oliver Okpara, Mr. Hassan Hassan, and Ms. Ummie Hassan, who were kidnapped by gunmen at midnight on May 25, 2022 in the rectory of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gidan Maikambo, Kafur LGA of Katsina State, have all been set free,” the statement read.
“We thank you for your prayers, support, encouragement, and show of love. May the name of the Lord be praised, now and forever. Amen! Thank you!”
