Raphinha has hinted that he didn’t want to play for Chelsea because it was his “dream” to play for Barcelona.
The Blues agreed to pay Leeds United £55 million for the 25-year-old player, but Barcelona then stepped in. Raphinha then chose to play for FC Barcelona instead of moving to West London, and he has now spoken out about his decision.
After the deal for Raphinha fell through, Chelsea ended up getting Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their new attackers. At the time, Thomas Tuchel was very interested in the Brazilian, but the German couldn’t get his man.
Sterling has had a great start at Stamford Bridge, which is good news for the Blues. So far, the England international has scored three goals in the Premier League, making him the team’s top scorer in the division.
But the former Manchester City player has a lot more to offer. Aubameyang hasn’t played for Chelsea in the Premier League yet, but he did make his debut this week against Dinamo Zagreb and showed some of what he can do for the team.
