Senate Leadership Holds Talks with President Tinubu Following Senator Ningi’s Suspension

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accompanied by senior Senate officials, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, convened a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, which took place shortly after the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi of Bauchi Central (PDP), comes amid heightened tensions following Ningi’s allegations of budget padding amounting to ₦3 trillion in the 2024 Budget. Ningi, who chairs the Northern Senators’ Forum and the Senate Committee on Population, also claimed the existence of two separate budgets, suggesting discrepancies between the budget passed by the National Assembly and the one being implemented.
