Three individuals have been given the death by stoning by a Sharia court in Ningi, the administrative centre of Ningi LGA in Bauchi State.
They were found guilty of engaging in homosexual behaviour, which is forbidden in Islam.
Abdullahi Abubakar Beti, 30, Kamilu Ya’u, 20, and Mal. Haruna, 70, have all been found guilty in accordance with section 134 of the Bauchi State Penal Code of 2001 and Fiquhussunah Jizu’i Number 2 at Page 362.
The case against the condemned individuals began on June 14, 2022, when Adamu Dan Kafi, acting on behalf of members of the Hisbah Vanguard operating in the Ningi LGA, brought charges against Abdullahi Abubakar Beti, Kamilu Ya’u, and Mal Haruna before the Sharia court.
The Hisbah Vanguard informed the court that the three people were detained for homosexual activity in Gwada village, Ningi LGA.
Munka’ilu Sabo Ningi, the trial Sharia judge, scheduled the case until Wednesday, June 29, 2022, for judgement after hearing from the prosecution and the charges against the defendants.
The trial judge, Munka’ilu Sabo Ningi, sentenced the three defendants to death by stoning after hearing testimony from witnesses and admissions of guilt from the three accused.
