Former member of the house of assembly, Patrick Obahiagbon has disclosed that the constitution of the people’s democratic party recognizes zoning and the 2023 presidency should have been zoned to the south.
Speaking in this interview,
Patrick Obahiagbon noted that the southern governors on the platform of the people’s democratic party literally begged for the party’s presidential ticket to be zoned to the south but the party leadership decided otherwise.
According to Patrick Obahiagbon, the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar should have heeded the call of the governors and allowed the presidential ticket to go to the south.
Patrick Obahiagbon based his reason on the fact that the incumbent president, Buhari is a northerner and it will only be fair if a southerner is given the chance to govern at the end of his tenure.
You will recall that the leadership of the people’s democratic party set up a 37-man committee on zoning but the party eventually adopted indirect primary election.
