Strike: ASUU Opens To Governors’ Intervention, Demands Sincerity

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has stated the union is open to the Progressive Governors Forum taking over the negotiation process to end the protracted strike.
Dr. Christopher Piwuna, the Vice President of the union disclosed this on Wednesday.
Piwuna noted that the governors are yet to inform them as the issue of education concerns every Nigeria. There is nothing wrong if they show interest to settle the matter in the interest of everyone. They have to be concerned as Nigerians who elected them to the offices want them to solve problems.
He hoped that the intervention will be genuine and based on respect for collective bargaining. The union does not want to be involved in a discussion that does not allow for collective bargaining.
The Chairman of the forum, Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State on Tuesday said that the forum will take over negotiations when they paid a visit to President Buhari at the Presidential Villla in Abuja.
