THE FALL OF OBASEKI AND AZIEGBEMI: A LESSON IN THOUGHTFUL LEADERSHIP

The age-old adage “Words are the pegs on which actions hang” has never been more relevant. Recently, Governor Obaseki and his state chairman, Aziegbemi, suffered a public setback at the hands of General Abubakar, exposing the pitfalls of reckless communication.

Despite initial claims that they wouldn’t sign, Aziegbemi attempted to do so, only to be met with a firm refusal from General Abubakar. This incident serves as a valuable lesson for the PDP: think before you speak, and when you speak, choose your words wisely.

Empty boasts can lead to embarrassment and loss of credibility, while humility and tact are essential in leadership. Pride comes before a fall, and true leadership is about taking responsibility, not shifting blame or weeping publicly. As the saying goes, “When you point one finger, three fingers point back at you.”

Let us hope that this incident serves as a learning experience for the PDP, and they emerge stronger and wiser from it. Meanwhile, Asue Ighodalo was seen weeping with his followers around the venue, a testament to the emotional toll of political setbacks. However, true leadership lies in resilience and learning from mistakes.”
