Jose Mourinho and AS Roma started the Serie A season strongly with three wins and one draw from their opening four games of the season, scooping ten points out of a possible twelve points as Mourinho wins the manager of the month for August.
Udinese welcomed AS Roma to the Dacia Arena on Sunday evening on matchday five in the Italian top-flight. The Udine based club took the lead in the opening five minutes of the match, and that set the momentum for the home team as they controlled most of the first half and took the lead into half time.
Udinese extended their lead eleven minutes after the half time break, before adding a third in the 75th minute and a fourth in the 82nd minute. AS Roma managed only two shots on target in the entire game, in what was a disappointing result for the I Giallorossi.
This is what Jose Mourinho had to say after the humbling defeat away at Udinese;
“I prefer to lose a game 4-0 rather than four games 1-0. This was ugly, both for us and the fans. But it’s life, and we move on. It was a match you could not risk going down to begin with because they defend well, they know how to manage the tempo of the game, You go down against them you’re already in trouble.”
Mourinho futher added;
“Udinese were perfect tonight, my compliments to them. We’ll be waiting for them in the return game in Rome.”
